No intention to sell TVN, says Wejchert

Jan Wejchert, president and majority owner of Polish broadcaster TVN’s owner ITI Group has said he has no intention of selling the business, at least in the immediate future, and intends to stay in charge for at least the next five years.

The recent appointment of Markus Tellenbach as president of TVN Group has fuelled some speculation that the owners of ITI may look to sell, possibly to News Corp. Wejchert, interviewed by the Polish News Bulletin, said Tellenbach’s appointment didn’t indicate any intention to relinquish control or prepare for the entry of new investors. He said the appointment reflected TVN’s growth from a single TV channel into a large multimedia group.

Wejchert also said that TVN was looking into the possibility of a converged TV and internet offer, and the addition of new thematic channels to complement TVN or pay-TV platform ‘n’.
