Audio description for BBC iPlayer

The BBC has launched an audio description service on its BBC iPlayer online video-on-demand service.

Audio description helps viewers with visual impairments to follow programmes by describing what is happening onscreen during gaps in the dialogue.

The BBC said that approximately 25 hours a week of audio-described programmes were now available on the service.
