Telenet announces social internet packages

Belgian cable operator Telenet has announced a series of special ‘social rate’ tariffs for its internet packages targeted at less well-off customers.

The special rates, which will be offered to qualified customers who already benefit from the operator’s existing social rates for telephony, will provide a discount of €7 for internet access across its packages. Telenet’s BasicNet service will be offered for €13 a month instead of €20. The operator will also offer €7 off its ComfortNet, ExpressNet and TurboNet packages.

About 360,000 subscribers currently benefit from social-rate telephony services from Telenet, which provides a similar discount for analogue TV access.
