Canal Plus Events set to double revenues

The sports marketing division of French pay-TV operator Canal Plus expects to double revenues this year, according to local reports.
Canal Plus Events, which recently won the broadcasting rights to Frances top football league Ligue 1, is on course to deliver revenues of Â40m in 2009 compared with Â19.5m last year. Aside from Ligue 1 rights, the outfit has also won rights to the French basketball championships and football club Olympique de Marseille. It will also organise the Winter X Games Europe in March 2010.
