BlinkBox signs BBC Worldwide content deal

Online VOD service BlinkBox has signed a deal with BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, for the rights to offer content from various shows.

BlinkBox will charge users £1.89 (€2.19) to watch episodes from popular series including Gavin and Stacey, Top Gear and Spooks. Episodes from other titles, including Hustle, Hotel Babylon and old series of Doctor Who will be available to download free of charge and will carry advertising.

BBC Worldwide content will be available a minimum of 180 days after initial broadcast on TV. BlinkBox, which launched in 2007, paid an advance fee for the rights and will share revenues from the titles with BBC Worldwide.
