Comstar-UTS moves forward with backbone network

Russian service provider Comstar-UTS has completed the construction of the main part of its new next-generation Moscow region backbone network.

Comstar has currently built a 180km fibre-optic ring network, with 44 10GbE ports and 264 GbE ports, at an overall investment of RUB111m (€2.5 million). The operator has built nodes in 11 of Moscow’s satellite cities. The operator plans to complete its network build-out by 2013.
