KDG and Unitymedia confirm Orion interest

German cable operators KDG and Unitymedia have confirmed their interest in acquiring rival operator Orion.

A spokesperson for KDG told German newspaper Handelsblatt that it would be interested in buying Orion if it were put up for sale. It is understood that any sale would be used to help KDG to increase its internet and telephony business.

Meanwhile, a source from Unitymedia told Handelsblatt that while the company would consider any network operator that was up for sale, it was particularly interested in Orion’s networks in Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia.
