AsiaSat 5 successfully launched

Satellite operator AsiaSat’s latest satellite, AsiaSat 5, has been successfully launched on board a Proton launch vehicle from Baikonur.

The satellite will replace AsiaSat 2 at the 100.5° East orbital slot. The new satellite has a payload comprising 26 C-band and 14 Ku-band transponders and will offer an enhanced Asian C-band footprint as well as Ku-band spotbeams covering East Asia and South Asia and a steerable Ku-band beam.
