Fastweb to offer Mediaset packages this month

Italian triple-play service provider Fastweb will begin offering two Mediaset Premium pay-TV packages – Premium Bouquet with general entertainment channels and Premium Calcio with football – on its IPTV platform on August 22.

Fastweb signed an agreement with commercial broadcaster Mediaset in July for the carriage and marketing of the Mediaset Premium digital-terrestrial TV service, including pay-per-view services.

Fastweb added 93,000 net new customers in the first half of the year, taking its total to 1,575,300.

The Swisscom-owned operator posted consolidated revenues of €918.8m for the first half, up 13% year-on-year. EBITDA was €265m, up 8%. Fastweb turned in a net profit of €17.9m, compared with a loss of €14.9m in 2008.
