French audiovisual regulator the CSA has authorised the launch of digital-terrestrial TV transmissions in 55 new zones across the country, giving an overall coverage of 88% of the territory of metropolitan France.
The new transmitters began service on July 31. French law requires that 95% of the population are reached by digital-terrestrial TV by digital switchover in 2011.Â
