Arqiva close to Kangaroo deal

Broadcast services provider Arqiva is close to acquiring the technology behind Kangaroo, according to press reports.

Kangaroo, the online on-demand joint venture between the BBC’s commercial arm BBC Worldwide and broadcasters ITV and Channel 4, was blocked by the Competition Commission earlier this year. Since then, the parties have been trying to sell the technology that underpinned the service, with plans to split any proceeds. France Telecom had been interested in acquiring the technology but Arqiva is now the only interested party and is understood to be in the final stages of negotiations with the broadcasters.
