Ball appointment could net ITV £500m

Investment bank Citigroup has pledged to underwrite £500m (€593m) fundraising by British commercial broadcaster ITV if it hires Tony Ball as chief executive.

This move will intensify the pressure on the broadcaster to hire the former BSkyB boss and chairman of German cable operator Kabel Deutschland. Ball joined the board of British telco BT Group last week.
