Canal Plus launching weekend-only pay TV package

French pay-TV operator Canal Plus is launching a weekend-only pay-TV service that will cost subscribers half of the amount levied for a standard monthly package.

Canal Plus Week-end will launch this autumn and the Vivendi-backed pay-TV company will charge customers about €15. Exact pricing details have not been announced. A regular subscription costs €30-35 per month. It is not immediately clear whether the channel line-up will mirror that of the regular service. The Week-end service will run from Friday evening to Sunday evening.
