Cablecom upgrades million households

Swiss cable operator Cablecom, owned by UPC, has upgraded one million homes on its network prior to the planned launch of new services including video-on-demand in the autumn. The network is also capable of supporting DOCSIS 3.0-based ‘Fiber Power’ 100Mbps internet access.

Cablecom plans to launch Fiber Power later this year, offering speeds of 100Mbps and beyond to all homes in the upgraded footprint. A further 300,000 homes in the Cablecom footprint are scheduled to be upgraded in 2010.
