KT takes SES capacity for Africa and Middle East coverage

Korea Telecom (KT) has signed an agreement with satellite operator SES to take up to 9MHz of C-band capacity on the NSS-703 and NSS-12 satellites to enable its domestic customers to connect to Africa and the Middle East via a single hop.

KT has deployed a 32-metre uplink antenna to access the satellites at its teleport in Boeun, Korea. SES’s NSS-703 satellite is positioned at 57° East, while NSS-12 is scheduled to be launched to this position in the third quarter of 2009.
