Astrium signs Eutelsat capacity deal
Satellite manufacturer and services provider Astrium has signed a five-year deal to take 36MHz of capacity on satellite operator Eutelsats new W2A satellite.
Astrium Services, through its Toulouse-based subsidiary London Satellite Exchange, plans to use the capacity to complement the commercial communication services it currently supplies to Africa.
W2A, located at the 10° East orbital position, entered commercial service in May. It provides Ku-band capacity across Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and central Asia, and C-band capacity extending from South America across Africa and Europe to the Indian sub-continent.
