Safaricom launches mobile TV in Kenya

Kenyan mobile operator Safaricom has launched a live mobile TV service.

The operator has signed a deal with mobile phone manufacturer Nokia and pay-TV company DStv to stream live television from DStv to compatible mobile handsets. The service, which is available in Nairobi and Mombasa but will be extended to other towns and cities, costs KES1000 per month (€9).

Users with Nokia N97 and N77 phones can already access the service. Other Nokia handsets can also receive it by using the Nokia Mobile TV receiver.
