TF1 secures Groupe AB DTT deal

French broadcaster TF1 has agreed to buy digital assets from media company Groupe AB in a deal worth €192m.

TF1 will buy all of NT1 and double its stake in TMC to 80%, subject to regulatory approval. Both TF1 and NT1 are free-to-air digital terrestrial channels. TF1 will also increase its stake in WB Television, a holding company controlled by Berda – the majority owners of Groupe AB – to 49% from 33.5% for €1.5m.

TF1 will keep its 33.5% stake in Groupe AB but management of the company will be granted an option to buy TF1’s stake for €155m within two years.
