Russia leads social network use

Russian internet users spend more time on social networking sites than those of any other nation, according to research group comScore.

Russian internet users spend an average of 6.6 hours a month on (predominantly domestic) social networking sites, viewing an average of 1,307 pages.

Globally, 743.2 million out of 1.1 billion internet users over 15 years of age visited a social networking site in May this year, representing penetration of 65%. Brazilians came second in the usage statistics, with an average of 6.3 hours a month, compared with 4.6 hours in the UK, 4.2 hours in the UK, 3.4 hours in France and only 3.2 hours in Italy.
