SeaChange reports quarterly revenue rise

Video-on-demand specialist SeaChange has reported first quarter revenues of US$48.9m (€34.5m), up 8% year-on-year, marking the company’s seventh consecutive quarter of profitability.

SeaChange said the revenue increase was due primarily to higher VOD software installation, maintenance and professional services revenue along with higher software subscription revenue.

Revenue from the company’s software segment reached $30.6m, up US$0.5m year-on-year. The servers and storage segment contributed revenue of $14.1m, up 24%, and the media services segment generated US$4.2m for the quarter compared with US$4m a year earlier.

Seventy six per cent of revenues came from the US with 19% coming from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
