Prisa and Mediapro to create holding company

Spanish media firm Prisa and local production company Mediapro are in talks to create a new holding company that will incorporate both companies’ assets.

The rivals have been fighting legal battles over the years regarding control of Spanish soccer rights, but this move would the two parties merge and create a much larger consortium. The move would also likely help Prisa sell its digital pay-TV service Digital Plus, which it has been shopping to buyers for the last few months.
