Five and Sky One fail to meet European content quota
UK commercial channel Five and pay-TV channel Sky One failed to meet the European Unions requirement that a minimum 50% of content should be of European origin in 2007.
According to a European Commission study, European works represent more than 85% of peak viewing time for TV channels in the UK, driven by an increase in European programmes on the main public broadcast and commercial channels.
Across the EU, over 75% of peak viewing time was accounted for by European works, while independent European productions accounted for over 33% of total viewing time.Â
