German digital dividend vote postponed

Germany’s Federal Council, the Bundesrat, has postponed a vote that was intended to approve the government’s proposal for redistributing the country’s digital dividend, according to local reports.

The delay has reportedly been caused by the disruption that could be caused to the spectrum’s other uses, including TV broadcasting and wireless microphones, if it is used for data services. The Bundesrat needs to approve the government’s proposal on this matter before it can be passed to Germany’s Parliament, the Bundestag, which begins its summer break next month.
