Eutelsat chooses Astrium for Atlantic Bird 7

Satellite operator Eutelsat has chosen Astrium to deliver a new satellite, Atlantic Bird 7, to deliver services from the 7° West position from the fourth quarter of 2011, increasing its Ku-band capacity at the position from 26 transponders to up to 50.

Eutelsat collaborates with Egypt-based operator Nilesat at the 7° West position to deliver services to the Middle East and North Africa. Following the launch of the satellite, Atlantic Bird 4A will be redeployed to the Hotbird position at 13° East.
