OneVision takes Irish DTT contract

The OneVision consortium, comprising of broadcasters TV3, and Setanta along with telco Eircom, has been granted the contract to operate the commercial arm of Ireland’s DTT service.

Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has awarded the contract to operate three commercial multiplexes to OneVision, with detailed terms still to be negotiated.

OneVision was the runner-up when Boxer originally won the contract but the Scandinavian pay-DTT broadcaster subsequently withdrew its application due to funding issues. In OneVision’s original submission, it proposed a basic offer of 23 channels for €9.99 per month as well as premium sports and film content.
