Intelsat to launch new satellite

Satellite operator Intelsat has announced plans to launch a new satellite covering Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

The Intelsat 22 satellite is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2012 and will be positioned at 72° East over the Indian Ocean region. It will supply 48 C-band transponders for Africa and Asia along with 24 Ku-band transponders providing coverage of the Middle East and East Africa, with connectivity to Europe.
