Nordic telco TeliaSonera has tripled revenues from its IPTV business in the last 12 months.
The telco added 32,000 IPTV subscribers during the first quarter of 2009, giving it a total of 509,000, 102,000 more than a year earlier. More than 20% of its broadband customers now subscribe to TV services.
Operating profit from TeliaSoneras broadband services division was up 26% year-on-year to SEK2bn (Â184m) at the end of the first quarter, while EBITDA excluding non-recurring items reached SEK3.5bn, up 15%. Broadband ARPU increased by SEK41 to SEK309.
Net sales from cable operator Stofa increased 21% year-on-year to SEK361m. The number of subscriptions for broadband access decreased by 3,000 to 149,000 and subscriptions for cable TV increased by 2,000 to 211,000.
