TeliaSonera triples IPTV revenues

Nordic telco TeliaSonera has tripled revenues from its IPTV business in the last 12 months.

The telco added 32,000 IPTV subscribers during the first quarter of 2009, giving it a total of 509,000, 102,000 more than a year earlier. More than 20% of its broadband customers now subscribe to TV services.

Operating profit from TeliaSonera’s broadband services division was up 26% year-on-year to SEK2bn (€184m) at the end of the first quarter, while EBITDA excluding non-recurring items reached SEK3.5bn, up 15%. Broadband ARPU increased by SEK41 to SEK309.

Net sales from cable operator Stofa increased 21% year-on-year to SEK361m. The number of subscriptions for broadband access decreased by 3,000 to 149,000 and subscriptions for cable TV increased by 2,000 to 211,000.
