Sales of flat-panel TV screens are continuing to grow in western Europe

In western Europe, the market for TV sets is expected to grow by six per cent this year, according to Futuresource. In the US, the flat-panel market is expected to reach 30 million shipments this year, with LCD screens experiencing 40 per cent growth year-on-year. Blu-ray disc player sales in the top five European markets are meanwhile expected to triple between 2008 and 2009, reaching over 1.8 million units next year excluding Sony Playstation 3 sales.
