Copper prices affect BezeqÂs new network
Israeli telco BezeqÂs planned next generation network is under threat
due to the falling price of copper, according to local reports. The telco was planning to finance part of the construction costs of its next-generation network by selling copper that it reclaimed from its old network, which is being replaced by fibre-optic cables. The price of copper has halved in recent weeks and Bezeq is expected to review the projectÂs cost, estimated to be in the region of US$150m-200m (EUR120m-160m), although it is not expected to abandon it.
