B.net launches SVOD, extends OTT offering to PCs and Macs

Croatian cable operator B.net has launched a subscription video-on-demand service in partnership with SeaChange International’s On Demand Group.

The launch builds on the deployment of video-on-demand in December.

B.net CEO Adrian Jezina told DTVE that the service was a first in Croatia: while HBO’s subscription VOD service had been available, no all-you-can-eat service with multiple content partners has hitherto been offered in the country. The service is being offered to existing triple-play customers for the equivalent of €5 a month and to other customers at a slightly higher monthly rate of about €7.50.

B.net has also extended its over-the-top TV service, launched initially to iOS devices, to PCs and Macs via the web. Jezina said that the company is making an effort to acquire more rights in order to extend the scope of the content available.

B.net is in the process of migrating its cable TV and OTT services onto a common platform based on Zappware’s technology. “We will launch more advanced services and interactive features later this year,” said Jezina. The upgrade will bring the regular cable TV and OTT services together on a single platform to give a consistent experience across both.
