New Missouri-set Netflix crime drama Ozark was far and away the most ‘in-demand’ show in Parrot Analytics’ tracking of the most popular digital originals in the UK last week.

Parrot Analytics analyses the demand for recent popular digital titles across international markets, based on the application of artificial intelligence to expressions of demand across social media, fan sites, peer-to-peer protocols and file-sharing platforms.

Ozark totalled some 8.95 million ‘demand expressions’ in the period from July 24-30, making it the most sought-after original by some margin.

Below Ozark, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, available in the UK on the free-to-view All4 service, scored 3.303 million demand expressions, taking it into second place in Parrot’s top 10.

Amazon’s The Grand Tour came third, with 2.038 million demand expressions, followed closely by Netflix video-game-based animated series Castlevania, with 2.018 million. Netflix’s Orange is the New Black also topped two million demand expressions, taking fourth place with about 2.01 million.

The Handmaid’s Tale and The Grand Tour aside, the UK top 10 was Netflix territory, with Stranger Things, House of Cards, 13 Reasons Why and Marvel’s Iron Fist completing the list.

As part of a new collaboration with Parrot Analytics, Digital TV Europe will provide regular updates on the most in-demand shows across key European markets in the coming months, based on Parrot’s unique datasets.
