TV Connect 2017: Bulgaria’s Unicoms taps Conax and Appear TV for white label OTT

Bulgarian service provider Unicoms Services has tapped Kudelski-owned conditional access provider Conax and video processing specialist Appear TV to provide a white label OTT TV platform, UnyQTV.

The new platform supports Unicoms Services expansion into the OTT arena, supported by OTT streaming platform Conax Go Live, pre-integrated with Appear TV’s content processing platform.

Unicoms Services is already hosting over 50 operators from the Balkans region with Conax Contego conditional access and claims to be the first professional white label OTT solution available in Bulgaria.

The UnyQTV platform provides either a white label technical solution that allows for rebranding using operators’ existing assets or a revenue share model, whereby Unicoms will provide a complete pay TV operator ecosystem for low-risk entry to OTT services, including live-TV channels on smartphones and tablets, and support for catch-up TV.

The Unicoms Services hosted solution offers mid to smaller cable, DTH and IPTV operators a live TV offering enabling subscribers access to over 60 of the most popular Bulgarian and foreign channels.

“The TV screen is no longer just the traditional TV set. Smart devices have become a part of daily life, with consumers demanding new applications of traditional TV services. Tapping the agility of the Conax and Appear TV technology, the new UnyQTV cloud OTT platform enables small and mid-size operators to compete with and best offerings on the market, providing secure, rapid deployment of value-added services – at an affordable price. Operators can tap an OPEX based model to deploy highly desirable OTT content without initial upfront hardware investments and expertise or offering the UnyQTV application’s “revenue share” model,” said Nastya Popova, executive director, Unicoms Trading.
