Globecast hires BeIN Media exec as technology chief

Media services outfit Globecast has named BeIN Media Group technical director Sylvain Merle as its new chief technology officer, effective immediately.

In his role as CTO, Merle will take on responsibility in ensuring that the company’s technical and economic approach with clients is aligned with the latest industry developments.

Prior to working for Middle East pay and free TV outfit BeIN Media, Merle had senior technical positions at companies including Fox International Channels, TV5Monde, and Thomson Broadcast Systems.

His duties at Globecast will include managing skill centers, developing strategic partnerships and contributing to technological advances such as IT architecture and storage, headends, WAN, LAN and CDN Networks.

He brings a wealth of industry knowledge and leadership skills to his new post including 25 years’ experience in broadcast architecture, OTT, nonlinear distribution, transmission, IPTV and IT.
