Icflix extends reach in Pakistan through PTCL deal

ICFLIX_PiPMiddle East and North Africa-focused on-demand streaming service Icflix has struck a deal with IT and entertainment provider PTCL to extend its presence in Pakistan.

Under the terms of the deal, PTCL customers will be able to view high- Icflix content on PTCL Smart TV, which offers viewers range of content and is available in 150 major cities across Pakistan.

PTCL’s Smart TV claims to be the first IPTV service in the country. It provides over 100 live TV channels as well as an on-demand library of movies, TV shows and kids programmes on set-top boxes and through an Android and iOS app.

“We are excited at strengthening our partnership further with PTCL and look forward to providing high-quality movies and TV shows to Pakistani consumers,” said Amine Lalami, chief commercial officer, Icflix.

 Adnan Shahid, chief commercial officer, PTCL said: “We are excited with our Icflix partnership. Digital entertainment is PTCL’s key priority and our partnership with Icflix is another step in this direction. We look forward to working with Icflix to offer world class content to our customers in Pakistan.”

Icflix has adopted a strategy of expanding its reach in multiple markets through deals with local telecom providers. The service recently struck deals with Orange Tunisie in Tunisia, Viva in Kuwait and Zain in Bahrain.
