EBU appoints first head of digital

The EBU has appointed the head of the digital innovation at Flemish public broadcaster VRT, Ezra Eeman, as its first head of digital.

In his newly created role, Eeman will be responsible for leading all digital initiatives, as well as for steering change and innovation throughout the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

He will work closely with EBU members who have a digital-first strategy and with other industry execs to exchange experience and inspire other members.

He joins from Belgian broadcaster VRT, where he was head of VRT Start-Up, a digital innovation lab founded in mid-2013 to figure out new digital concepts and formats.

In his previous role he was also responsible for Open VRT, an online community for creatives in Flanders that acts as a showcase for young talent and encourages collaboration with public service media.

The EBU is an alliance of public service media. It includes 73 Members in 56 countries in Europe, and an additional 34 associates in Asia, Africa and the Americas.
