CNN launches Greek digital service

CNN International has launched its dedicated Greek digital offering, CNN.gr.

The venture from DPG Digital Media and CNN International Commercial combines international news with local content and video. CNN.gr offers content of national and local interest with a focus on video, as well as coverage of international news and major events through content from CNN and its partner network.

The venture is headed by former Panathenaic Publications CEO Panagiotis Bomis as general manager and former ANT1 TV news director Andreas Panagopoulos, as Editor in Chief.

“As the world’s news leader, CNN is committed to bringing news in different formats and platforms across the world to reach and engage new audiences. The launch of CNN.gr is an important moment for CNN, and equally important for news audiences in Greece. There is huge potential in our partnership with DPG and the new way that CNN’s unique brand of journalism will be experienced in the Greek language,” said Rani R. Raad, Chief Commercial Officer of CNN International.

“Within a highly demanding environment for reliable, timely and quality information, the strategic cooperation with the CNN international family, of which we are now a member of, makes us particularly proud, as it contributes to the development of our Group’s network in all those areas that meet the Greek consumer needs,” said Dimitris Giannakopoulos, DPG Group President. “With the unique CNN quality seal we aim to highlight and responsibly enlighten the significant developments in our country, putting Greece in the spotlight and the Greek diaspora closer to the motherland.”
