Motive updates US TabletTV ahead of UK release

TV technology provider Motive has released the first update to its TabletTV platform in the US ahead of a planned UK release in the near future, and a wider European release.

Version 3.24 of the platform has been submitted to the Apple App Store for review and is expected to be available to TabletTV US customers within a week.  The new App will update the software and T-Pod firmware automatically process without any cost to TabletTV users, according to Motive.

The company said the update is the first in a series of improvements that will be available in the next weeks and months in accordance with its product roadmap and feedback from users. Among the future updates will be the release of TabletTV Europe, the addition of Chromecast capability, and the extension of TabletTV to Android devices.

According to Motive TabletTV 3.24 provides better WiFi performance between the T-Pod and tablet, automatically updates the T-Pod firmware, increases the speed of transfer of recorded programmes from T-Pod to tablet, and adds pause and rewind functions to the one-touch recording function.  In addition, the new version introduces automatic location-based acquisition of programme information in preparation for rollout of the platform nationally across the US.

TabletTV enables tablet users to watch and record all the programming currently broadcast over digital terrestrial channels as well as to download video-on-demand content without an internet connection, via a proprietary app and the T-Pod antenna-tuner.

“”Our Barcelona and Casablanca based engineering teams are working hard to fulfill an aggressive product roadmap that improves and extends Motive’s signature product.  We anticipate releasing new features for the US and UK every few weeks and simultaneously extending TabletTV to additional countries during 2015.  Interest among consumers and broadcasters is high and is expected to grow as we introduce new features,” said Leonard Fertig, CEO of Motive.
