Russian digital-terrestrial platform expands reach

Russian flagThe first Russian digital-terrestrial multiplex now reaches over four in five of the country’s population, according to deputy minister of communications and mass media Alexey Volin.

Volin said that the DTT platform grew its audience by 4.9% last uyear and that three in five Russians can now receive HD services.

Volin said that the first multiplex could now be received by 82.8% of the Russian population and that three in five Russians could receive HD services.

The Russian government last week approved a new bill on the distribution of TV channels, introducing must-carry rules and placing channels in categories depending on their availability.
