Wuaki taps Civolution for UHD content watermarking

Wuaki.tv 4KMovie and TV streaming service Wuaki.tv is integrating Civolution’s content watermarking solution into its platform to help protect its Ultra HD content.

Wuaki will use Civolution’s NextGuard content protection technology to roll out session-based watermarking for Ultra HD movies, allowing Wuaki to identify the source of pirated copies.

The move comes after Wuaki recently launched its Ultra HD offering of Hollywood blockbusters on LG TV sets in Germany and France, with Wuaki claiming it will also allow it to offer high quality content in Spain and the UK and to future-proof its offering ahead of expansion into new markets.

“While acquiring high quality content, it’s become clear to us that session-based watermarking is increasingly mandatory, particularly for Ultra HD/4K content,” said Jordi Miró, Wuaki’s chief technology officer.

“By integrating Civolution’s forensic watermarking solution, we comply with the latest Hollywood requirements for content protection so that we can bring the best possible cinematic experience into the home.”
