Beamly adds features, claims 30% user growth

Social TV service Beamly has added a number of new features and claims a 30% monthly increase in its user base since it rebranded from Zeebox in April.

The new and updated features in the new version of the Beamly app include: an all-new personalised TV guide based on the shows a viewer follows; a revamped ‘best of Beamly’ feed designed to surface real-time content and conversations; user profiles that let users post comments to each other’s feeds; and a new ‘animated selfies’ feature.

“We’ve built a one-of-a-kind destination where fans are directly engaging with TV talent and each other 24/7 in organic, show-centric experiences over entire seasons, not hours,” said Beamly executive vice-president and US managing director, Jason Forbes.

“We’ve simply never seen the amount of interaction and engagement between fans, celebrities and casual followers across Beamly. The new features announced today make the overall experience more personalised and takes that level of connectedness to the next level.”

The firm attributed the growth in its user base to “original content, personalised feeds and talent participation.”
