TV sales in Germany underperform CE market

TV sales in Germany are likely to fall below expectations this year, ending 18% down on the 2012 figure at 7.7 million units, according to consumer electronics trade associations GFU.

Revenue from TV sales is also likely to be down by 17% at €4.8 billion, according to the the GFU.

However, sales of smart TVs account for a growing share of the market, with 73% of new TVs sold now internet connectable.

The GFU expects the overall consumer electronics market to turn in sales of €9 billion in the last quarter, up 4% on the previous year, with tablet devices performing strongly.
