Amazon Instant and Lovefilm to air new comedy pilots

Amazon has greenlit three new half-hour pilot comedy originals for the Amazon Instant Video and Lovefilm subscription video-on-demand services.

The new pilots comprise Mozart in the Jungle written by Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited), Jason Schwartzman (Moonrise Kingdom, Rushmore) and Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher), The Outlaws written by Jeremy Garelick (The Break-Up) and Jon Weinbach and Transparent written and directed by Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under).

The new shows will be aired exclusively on Amazon-owned Lovefilm in the UK and Prime Instant Video in the US early next year.

The latest pilots follow an intial round of shows commissioned by Amazon last April.

“We are thrilled to be working on these pilots with such talented creators with passionate visions for new shows. We are excited to hear what customers think of the shows,” said Roy Price, director of Amazon Studios.
