Farncombe launches digital TV testing solution

TV technology consultancy firm Farncombe has launched a device testing solution, based on the assets it acquired from MiriATE in January.

The OpenTest automated service offers a test environment for set-top boxes, integrated digital televisions and the services consumed through them and is available either as a managed, outsourced service or deployed in-house on CPE vendors’ and operators’ platforms.

Farncombe said that the testing service includes a number of new features on top of the former MiriATE product, including AV jukebox, AV capture and serial-to ethernet output.

“We are introducing a simple cost model without licence fees which we believe makes OpenTest significantly more cost-effective than competitive offerings, irrespective of the number and type of devices to be tested,” added Gary Marshall, managing partner for engineering services at Farncombe.
