UPC Austria to offer public channels unencrypted

Cable operator UPC Austria will begin carrying Austrian public channels ORF and ORF 2 in digital in HD without encryption from the end of January, joining the other 47 channels broadcast in digital unencrypted by UPC.

The move enables UPC Austria subscribers to receive the channels via a DVB-C-capable TV set without the need for a digital set-top box.
