Lovefilm launches HD streaming

Online streaming service Lovefilm is launching high-definition streaming in the UK and Germany.

The move will see HD viewing available to Lovefilm Instant subscribers. In the UK, customers using a PC or Mac can enjoy 1080p high-definition content, while Xbox360 and Samsung and LG connected HD TV customers will have 720p resolution. In Germany, 1080p HD content will be available initially via PC and Mac. Movies available to stream in high definition include The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Gnomeo and Juliet and Four Lions, while TV series will include Lost, Ghost Whisperer and Human Planet.

“The introduction of HD quality content further strengthens the offering and marks another key milestone in delivering our members the best possible service with exceptional value,” said Lovefilm managing director Jim Buckle.
