Bouygues unveils 4G plan

French quad-play provider Bouygues Telecom has unveiled plans to roll out a 4G mobile network from 2013.

Bouygues will roll out a pilot network in Lyon. The operator plans to have 5,000 sites made 4G-ready by the end of this year. The company has invested €911 million in acquiring 4G/LTE frequencies.

Bouygues has also committed to make 3G Plus, offering mobile broadband speeds of up to 42Mbps, available to 50% of the country’s population, beginning in June.
