Virgin sees subscriber boost, launches 100mps broadband

UK cable operator Virgin Media recorded 14,800 new TV subscribers as part of its third quarter financial results. This brings the cabler’s total subscriber base to 3.77 million. Virgin also added 222,100 high definition subscribers as well as over 100,000 subscribers to Sky’s premium service, bringing the total number of subs to Sky Sports and Sky Movies packages to 725,000.

The company has reported revenues of £978 million, which a 6.4% increase on last year, as well as a 50% increase in operating income to £102 million. Virgin also announced the launch of a new 100 Mbps broadband service, reportedly the fastest in the country, at the end of October.
