Comstar-UTS and MTS begin joint marketing of triple-play

Russian service provider Comstar-UTS and mobile operator sister company MTS have initiated a series of joint marketing projects as they begin to combine their offerings under the MTS brand.  The pair will this month launch a campaign to promote their 3-in-1 triple-play offer, involving 20% discounts on equipment, two months, free mobile and home internet and cable TV at a discounted rate.

All Comstar brands in the Russian regions, including Stream UTC (Ekaterinburg), Interlink (Ryazan), Tenzor Telekom (Yarolavl) and Penza Telekom (Penza) will be replaced by the MTS brand by the end of next year.

Separately, Comstar has announced the completion of key transactions relating to its sale of its 25% plus one share stake in Svyazinvest to Rostelecom.

Rostelecom has now acquired a 17.31% stake in Svyazinvest from Comstar-UTS for RUB18bn (€430m), and a 7.69% stake held by Comstar’s MGTS subsidiary for RUB8bn. The completion of the transaction is conditional on an exchange of shares involving MGTS and ISP SkyLink.
