Mixed quarter for Ono

Ono ended March with 1.9 million residential cable customers, the same amount as a year earlier. However, the Spanish pay-TV operator had success in promoting triple-play packages as the total number of residential cable RGUs reached 3,987,000 in the first quarter of 2010, up from 3,958,000, which means that 36.4% of customers now take three services.

Ono ended March with 970,000 TV customers, down from 1.016 million a year earlier. It blamed “difficult macroeconomic conditions” for the drop and pledged to increase its TV subscriber base. Broadband sub numbers were up 3.6% year-on-year to 1.343 million.

Ono recorded first quarter revenues of €372m, down 4.1% year-on-year. EBITDA was down 3.9% to €176m.
