Quarter of world’s TV homes to have DVR by 2015

A quarter of the world’s TV households are expected to have a DVR by the end of 2015, according to research from Informa Telecoms & Media.

Informa predicts that 341 million homes across 53 countries will have DVRs by 2015, up from 112.5 million at the end of this year.

North America currently dominates DVR penetration, though its lead will diminish. The Asia Pacific region is expected to overtake western Europe to claim second place by 2015, when the US will have 95 million DVR homes, followed by China with 33 million, Japan with 25 million and the UK with 21 million, according to Informa.
